Fort Ord Is A Terrifying Place

  • November 27, 2016

I was probably standing in a pool of my own sweat on some golf course fairway and marveling at how great the cars are yet how terrible everything else is at Monterey Car Week, when Bob Sorokanich called me. “I got a couple of Ariel Atoms!” he shouted, “do you have a place we could shoot them?” I said HOO BOY BOB ROUND UP THEM OFF ROADERS also we will PROBABLY BE MURDERED, but yes.

It’s weird to think that Fort Ord, a decommissioned and crumbling US military base, could exist just a few miles up the road from Pebble Beach. Yet there it is. It has all the spooky, murder-y vibes you’d need for a horror movie or a little post-apocalyptic Ariel Atom romp.

Shot for Road & Track. Check out Bob’s very good story here.
