Roadtripping the Nissan Italdesign GT-R50

Who would imagine taking a 1.2 million dollar concept car off the floor of the New York International Auto Show and roadtripping it to a NASCAR race in Delaware, with a pit stop in the armpit of America, Atlantic City? Top Gear strikes again. In particular, Tom “Wookie” Ford. Wookie is a very good guy, very British, and, most of the time, is singing stream of consciousness improvised arena rock lyrics. We shared the cabin of this Italdesign GT-R50 prototype for four days, followed by a van full of Italian mechanics and the head of Nissan’s performance cars. Things we learned: concept cars’ headlights are mostly useless in a rainstorm, and it is possible to hunt fish with a crossbow.

Also, what a beautiful, well-drawn car. We learned that the easiest way to snap necks in the GT-R50 is to simply drive by.
