This Is The Camaro That Finally Outsold The Mustang

  • November 28, 2014

You gotta love the cheesy, super 1970s decal package on this 1977 Z28 Camaro.  Although the second-gen Camaro might not be the first thing that pops in your head when you think “BAD ASS FUCKIN CAMARO,” this Z28 is actually an important car.  In 1977 Chevy revived the Z28 package and it was a huge hit: 350 cubic inches, 4-speed, 3.73 axle, and no fluff.  Compared to the absolutely embarrassing ’77 Mustang (remember, these were the dark Mustang II years) this Z28 looked like a stud.  Over 14,000 were built and the Z28 helped push Camaro sales past Mustang for the first time ever.

This almost unbelievably stock and original example was spotted in Toronto, Canada.
