You’re looking at a BMW B6 Alpina xDrive, just introduced to us North ‘Mericans at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. To most people, it’ll look just like any other upscale BMW sedan. It’s not. Those subtle Alpina callouts are there to tell you that this car is actually a serial killer. If you are in the habit of trying to stoplight race every upscale BMW sedan on the road (you know who you are), take some notes here.
This is a 600 horsepower, 200 mile per hour car. Read that sentence again. Then look at the photo of the car. Then read that sentence again. The 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 under the hood makes all of its 590 ft-lbs of torque at just 3500 rpm. That’s immense power.
Put it this way: the Alpina B6 sDrive accelerates so quickly to 60 miles per hour (3.7 seconds) that even the Greatest Of All Time, the Ferrari F40, would struggle to keep up in a drag race. Welcome to the new golden age of truly fast cars.
Having sat inside the B6 for a good little while, I can say with confidence that it’s a also good deal more comfortable than most of the other pointy and loud dick replacement devices that come to mind when you picture 200-mph-capable cars. This car is insanely fast and you won’t be embarrassed getting out of it. Most dangerous sleeper on the market? Might just be.
