There has already been much ink spilled about the 2017 Ford GT that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show this January. It’s a turbocharged 600+ horsepower supercar with an entirely carbon fiber body. It’s a very sexy car. I won’t spend much time here detailing every incredible technical achievement under the skin, but I’ll just relate my favorite of its accomplishments so far: without moving an inch, it instantly crushed the dreams of a little company called Acura.
Acura had the other “big” supercar reveal in Detroit, the new NSX. Like the Ford GT, the NSX is a relaunch of a brand legend. Years of teasers and a carefully orchestrated build-up of hype meant that everyone pretty much knew what to expect of the new Acura. But no one expected to see a new Ford GT that day. The GT completely stole all the thunder from Acura’s big moment, making the NSX about as buzzworthy as a new trim package on a minivan. It was a huge win for Ford.
The Liquid Blue GT shown in Detroit was amazing, but us New Yorkers got to crane our necks at this silver version, which really shows off the lines of the car. Dig that flying buttress treatment on the back half. Insane stuff. I can only imagine how a raw carbon racing version would look. These are special times we live in. Enjoy the Ford GT car porn.

Amazing shots man
The GT made a name for itself in the 1960s, and the nameplate returned to Ford for the 2005 and 2006 models. Since then, the vehicle has truly evolved into a supercar, evident by it’s $100,000+ price tag.
The company has made some changes to the third-generation GT, prioritizing handling and track capabilities in their 2017 model. The result? Not only one of Ford’s most impressive cars ever, but perhaps one of the most innovative cars to ever be released.
Awesome article that will be an awesome car…
